Dimensions: Implementing the Montessori Method into Dementia Care
Hillcrest Health Services continues to earn national recognition for innovative work in Montessori-focused dementia care. Most recently, Hillcrest earned the 2020 Silver Award for the Keep It Super Simple category in the McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards. Hillcrest earned the 2019 Silver Award for Innovator of the Year in the McKnight’s Magazine Excellence in Technology Awards. Hillcrest also received a 2018 Gold Award in the Quality category for the same award. Hillcrest is one of the first in the nation to integrate the Montessori philosophy into the daily lives of memory support residents through our Dimensions™ Memory Care program.

Hillcrest’s dementia expert Dr. Anna Fisher is a co-producer of the NET TV series, “Now What?” In “Approaches in Elder & Dementia Care,” experts discuss traditional treatments of dementia, along with more alternative options, including the Montessori method.
Partnership with The Roberts Academy
Nine years ago, Hillcrest entered into a partnership with The Roberts Academy, the only secondary Montessori school (grades 7-12) in the state. Today, The Roberts Academy is located on Hillcrest’s Silver Ridge campus in Gretna and is believed to be the nation’s first Montessori secondary school located in a health care setting.
