U.S. News & World Report Names Three Hillcrest Communities “Best Nursing Homes” for 2021-22

Hillcrest Firethorn, Hillcrest Millard and Hillcrest Shadow Lake have been named among the “Best Nursing Homes” for 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report, a national news organization that evaluates and rates health care providers across the country.

“We are honored to be named among the best in the nation for short-term rehabilitation and long-term care,” said Sharyl Ronan, CEO of Hillcrest Health Services. “This recognition reinforces our presence as a national leader, providing integrated, high-quality services for aging adults.”

This year, Hillcrest Firethorn and Hillcrest Millard both earned the Best Nursing Home status by achieving a rating of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating, for short-term rehabilitation.

The short-term rehabilitation rating incorporates measures of quality including consistency of registered nurses, use of antipsychotic drugs and success in preventing falls. For 2021-22, out of the 13,500 facilities who received a short-term rating, only 1,651 achieved the “High-Performing” status.

Hillcrest Shadow Lake was named a Best Nursing Home by achieving a rating of “High Performing” for long-term care. Out of 13,175 nursing homes, 1,063 were recognized with this honor.

The long-term care rating includes data on staffing, success in preventing ER visits and pneumonia vaccination rates, among other metrics.
