Hillcrest Team Members Rally to Support Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Hillcrest Health Services participated in the 2nd Annual Sarpy County Walk to End Alzheimer’s event on August 29 with more than 100 participants representing the Hillcrest team. As presenting sponsor of the walk, Hillcrest was proud to donate more than $18,000, which mostly was raised by team members and their families, as well as residents and their family members, through various events, raffles and online donations.

Hillcrest Mable Rose Administrator, Lisa Summers, has worked with dementia and Alzheimer’s residents for more than seven years and has participated in the walk for just as many years. She showed her support for the cause by wearing 32 pounds of additional weight during the walk. Each pound represented an individual with Alzheimer’s who had an impact on her life, indicated by a hand-made tag with each person’s name and what Lisa called “the date they became free of Alzheimer’s.”

“Supporting the Walk to End Alzheimer’s means a great deal to our Hillcrest family,” said Jim Janicki, Hillcrest’s vice president of marketing and communications. “Our caregivers experience firsthand the impact of Alzheimer’s on our residents and their families, and providing the best possible care for them is what we are passionate about. For many of our team members like Lisa, this is an opportunity to pay a special tribute and help make a difference in finding a cure for dementia-related disorders.”

“We are truly honored to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau with this distinction,” said COO, Brendan Bishop, who accepted the award. “Hillcrest’s mission is to enhance the lives of aging adults, and we couldn’t achieve this mission without making integrity and trust the foundation of our business practices for the past 28 years.”

These Awards focus on demonstrated ethical business practices with key stakeholders including customers, employees and community at large, rather than a company’s growth, profitability or popularity. The Integrity Award Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges consisting of metro Omaha business leaders and members of the academic community.
