In health care today there are many options when caring for patients with Coronary Artery Disease. This workshop will introduce participants to current interventions available for patients living with this disease. Guests will also learn about complications and contraindications as well as gain an understanding of surgical interventions available and the most opportune timing of surgery.
1. Identify current surgical and interventional options for supporting the acutely failing heart.
2. Recognize complications of support and contraindications.
3. Understand the timing of surgery as it relates
to acute coronary events.
HelenMari Louise Merritt-Genore, DO, is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from University of Texas at Arlington; EMT degree at Tarrant County Technical College in Fort Worth, TX, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX. Helen also did professional training in the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, TX. Her personal interests include biking, running 5Ks, creative writing, and most of all, spending time outdoors with family, which includes her husband and two sons.
