Featured Presenter: Dr. Daniel Murman
Topic: Clinical Research Trials
Dr. Daniel Murman received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in 1989 and then completed a Neurology residency, fellowship, and graduate training at the University of Michigan in 1996. Dr. Murman is currently a Professor in the Department of Neurological Sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he is the Director of the Behavioral and Geriatric Neurology Program and Vice Chair for Clinical and Translational Research. Dr. Murman’s subspecialty training is in Behavioral and Geriatric Neurology. Dr. Murman has focused his research and clinical activity on the evaluation and treatment of patients with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and related neurodegenerative diseases.
Dr. Murman will discuss the two new Alzheimer’s disease (AD) trials. One is an AD prevention trial called the Generation Study and is looking for normal adults age 60 to 75 who are at increased risk for developing AD due to carrying two copies of the APOE e4 risk gene. The second study is for subjects with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia due to AD (MMSE score 22 or higher). It is called the CREAD 2 study.
