Hillcrest Health Services will host the next Caregiver Support Group on Thursday, April 26 at 6 p.m.
Featured Presenter: Ellen Bennett, MS, Respite Care Associate, Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation
Topic: Respite Care
Family caregivers play a critical role in supporting individuals who need long-term services and support. Respite provides an opportunity for family caregivers of individuals with disabilities, chronic health conditions or who are aging to take a much-needed break to care for themselves. It allows the caregivers to rest, recharge and remember that there is life beyond caregiving. Research shows that when family caregivers make time for themselves, they are better caregivers and continue in the caregiving role.
In Nebraska, respite is available from a wide variety of resources. It can be provided by paid providers working for community agencies, volunteers, or family-identified providers.
Join us for an evening of learning and sharing. Refreshments provided.
The support group is facilitated by Hillcrest Health Services’ Director of Education & Quality Anna Fisher, Ph.D., and is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska Chapter in Omaha. For more information, call (402) 682-4272.
