There is significant research regarding the needs of individual who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia. This research demonstrates that the environment and ambiance play a major role in the quality of life for individuals who need memory support services. Numerous features from past experiences and in-depth research have been inco rporated into the building design in order to assist the resident and family to manage the disease process in the best possible way. Our Philosophy is Your Home, Not Ours. Our team conduct themselves daily as guests in residents' homes, always respectful and aware of their desire for independence. That's why our unique living experience isn't just home-like, it becomes home. We created two individual neighborhoods to accommodate no more than 16 residents at a time. The resemblance to a natural home setting is seen in the fully functioning kitchen that serves delicious home-cooked meals in the beautiful dining room while they enjoy the glow of the fireplace. The family room is a cozy place to relax, enjoy reminiscing and visit with family and other residents. Families are encouraged to decorate their loved one's apartment prior to move in with those furnishings that the resident already knows, such as a favorite chair, their own bed, dresser, wall hangings and pictures. Items that are familiar will improve the adjustment and subsequent living of the resident. Being able to have belongings and treasures that are familiar to the resident adds that very "Special Touch." Interior gardens were established as a mechanism for families and residents to enjoy an interesting, park-like atmosphere any time day or night. The gardens have natural wandering paths with areas of interest that stimulate conversations and reminiscing. The beautiful flowers, green foliage, gentle sounding waterfall and the chirping birds all extend themselves as an inviting place to visit while remaining within a secured area of Victoria Gardens. The gardens also allow interior access to Hillcrest Health Plaza where residents can be escorted to various services provided by the plaza. The covered exterior veranda encourages residents to enjoy the outdoors. The walking path and garden box seats encourage residents to enjoy gardening and the outdoors in a safe and secure exterior.
